TMNT - Fanfic - A new kind of happiness

Title:  A new kind of happiness

Warnings: There are mild mentions of child birth in this story (no blood or anything like that), the story also jumps back and forth to different scenarios which I will be separating with these --- (just in case people get confused with the whole story.)
Summary: Pic-Fic: The turtles all arrive at the battle nexus once again; during the tournament certain effects take a turn, changing everything.

Whilst watching Raph flip an alien over his shoulder Charlotte felt a sudden pain shoot through her, causing her to scream in agony.
"Charlotte?" Julie turned, trying to catch her as she fell to the floor. The others gathered round in a panic.
"Charlotte, what's wrong?" Robyn asked kneeling beside her.
"I think the baby's coming!" her voice trembled, squeezing Julies hand tight.
"What! Not now baby!" Mikey freaked. Charlotte let out more cries of pain as her contractions started.
"Daimyo we must do something" Splinter ordered to his friend. Daimyo did not think twice about calling the umpire to the situation.
"Take them to the healers pavilion at once" Daimyo ordered. With a flick of his fan, a light field surrounded them as they disappeared from the arena.

Raphael claiming his victory looked up at the crowds roaring out for more. He knew he was just a few matches away from becoming the battle nexus champion and he could finally rub it back in Mikey's face. He lined up with the other competitors who managed to get through, including Leonardo, Mia, Donatello and Usagi he sniggered listening to the Daimyo congratulating them on making it this far. Each one prepared themselves for another battle as a blue portal emerged out of nowhere.
"O yeah! More butt whoopin' here I come!" he chuckled, following the others onto the next stage.

Meanwhile Charlotte, Julie, Robyn, Mikey and Master Splinter appeared in the pavilion as the girls observed their surroundings they found themselves all in a room with tapestry covering the walls, the beds lined up either side of the room, and the shelves were planted with pots and glasses.

Sat there the healer was chanting over the body of an injured alien, the umpire approached him urging him to see to Charlotte.
"The healer cannot help you in this situation" a woman dressed in white and yellow robes appeared, her face was marked the same as the healers and her dark hair tied back in a high bun. She held her arm out pointing to a nearby room.
"Please bring her inside…" the woman insisted. Charlotte breathed heavily, taking small steps, with one hand on her bump, and the other in Julie's.
"Jules I'm scared…" Charlotte whimpered inhaling and exhaling as she walked.
"Don't worry I'm going to be right here with you" Julie comforted as the door closed behind them both.

"I must be getting back to the matches now" the umpire bowed before leaving the room, once again there was a bright light and he was gone.
"What do we do now?" Mikey asked. Splinter placed his hand on Mikey's shoulder.
"All we can do is wait my son, although one of you should go and get Raphael, this occasion involves him more than anything" Splinter explained.
"You're right I'll go… come and get me if anything happens" Robyn said running out of the room and back to the tournament field.
"Dude… this is big…" Mikey said, to no one in particular.

Back at the arena Leo and Mia found that they were against one another, and neither one was giving in easily. Swatting his blades Mia barely dodged Leo's attacks taking three flips back leaving enough space between them.
"Not bad" Mia smiled picking up her iron fans from the ground.
"Thanks, I'm just sorry to have to knock you out" Leo grinned, holding his katana ready for anything.
"Oh really" Mia smirked. She held her fans tight whilst moving them around in circular motion, swerving them into Leo's direction; he catapulted into the wall. Mia laughed as she ran over to him to make her final blow.
"Argh man…" Leo rubbed his head not anticipating an attack that powerful, even now Mia still surprised him.
"Remember Leo… I warned you, if I move my fans in the correct motion I can catch the wind, forcing it to work for me" she described before Robyn just jumped in out of nowhere.

"Hey what are you doing here?" Mia asked as Leo picked himself up from the ground. Trying to catch her breath Robyn placed her hands on her knees panting.
"Healers pavilion… Charlotte… got to get Raph…" she puffed.
"Robyn…" Leo was beginning to get worried, he always does whenever his brothers' names were mentioned. Inhaling a large breath Robyn pulled herself up out of the ground.
"Charlotte's gone into labour!" she bellowed.

Waiting patiently Splinter was in meditation whilst Mikey went into hysteria every time he heard Charlotte cry out.
"Dude this is like totally freaky, how do you deal with it master Splinter?!" Mikey asked covering his ears.
"My son do not alarm yourself…" Splinter whispered steadily as Mikey began to bite his finger nails.
"B-but what if Raph doesn't show up?!… What if the baby is born into some raging mutant monster that tears my comics apart?!... What if… OWW!" Mikey got a hard THWACK around his head, given from Splinters walking stick.

Charlotte's pains were becoming much sharper and this gave her concern.
"Ahh! Where's Raphael, where is he?!" Charlotte screamed Julie held a damp cloth over her forehead.
"Don't worry… he'll be here soon" Julie smiled trying to keep herself calm, for Charlotte's sake. Deep down she was far more nervous.

"You are doing well, but soon it will be time for you to deliver the baby" the midwife stated as she was handed over some fresh towels and warm water by her assistant. This got Charlotte really alarmed she thought it was bad enough that she was giving birth but even worse if Raphael wasn't there to support her.
"Oh god I don't think I can do this…" Charlotte panted; her eyes began to tear up with fear.

The crowds watched in confusion as Leo and Mia's battle was interrupted by Robyn.
"Oh my god! Charlotte's in labour! Well come on we have to go!" Mia insisted taking Leo's arm and dragging him away from the arena.

"Wait we can't we have to find Raphael!" Robyn shouted, already the umpire made himself present.
"What is going on here is something the matter?" he asked.
"Yes we have to get Raphael and go to the healer's pavilion!" Robyn ordered the umpire approached Leonardo and Mia with great respect.
"If you forfeit the match now, you are for fitting yourselves from the competition is this your final choice?" Mia and Leonardo looked at one another, Leo knew he wanted to win the competition to prove to everyone and to his master that he was a worthy warrior, but this was bigger.

Before he realised it Mia had taken his hand and gave him a little smile. He turned to the umpire and gave their answer.
"It is… but I insist that we get my brother as well"
"Very well" a portal opened up nearby, as they walked through, they found themselves in the middle of Raphael's match against a large brutal being.

Raph was a little caught up, being held over the creature's head, about to be snapped in two.
"Whoa! Aye let me go ya walkin' freak-a-zoid!" Raph roared as he managed to free his ankle, taking the aliens hand, he began swinging its body around the field before crashing it back into the ground.
"Oh yeah! Who's da badest turtle round!" he blared turning around and noticing the others standing there.

"Hey guy's what's shakin'?" he asked.
"Well err…" Leo started rubbing the back of his head, not knowing how he was going to break this to his brother.
"Charlotte's gone into labour! So you need to come quickly!" Mia blurted out. The others stood there in amazement as they didn't expect her to announce it so suddenly.
"What I'm excited about becoming an aunt" Mia exclaimed as they all turned the attention back to Raphael.

"Y… Ya Serious?" that's all Raph was able to emit from his mouth.

"Yes!" they all replied in eagerness, Robyn hauled him over, walking back through the portal, they were transported back to the healing pavilion once more.
Stood there was master Splinter and Mikey with Donatello and Usagi showing up walking through the door moments later.
"When we noticed your match had been altered, we thought that there may be trouble" Usagi said wondering what all the commotion was about.
"Well err…" once again Leonardo didn't know how to explain the situation he was just as nervous as Raph was.

The attention soon turned to Raph, taking a deep breath he walked up to the door, about to slide it open, he unexpectedly stopped, his fist began to shake in mid-air.
"Raphael…" Splinter inquired as to what was wrong. Giving a vulgar growl, Raph suddenly bolted out of the room.
"Raph wait!" Donnie cried out, Splinter followed the hot headed turtle, he noticed him sitting on the edge of the path with his palms covering his face.
"Raphael…" Splinter spoke up as he placed his hand on the turtles head.
"What troubles you, my son?" he spoke once more. Raph sniffed lifting his face out of his palms; his cheeks were wet with tears.

He had always tried to keep his emotions at bay, but at a time like this, it was clear that Raph wasn't feeling like his usual tough-guy self.
"I'm sorry Master Splinter… I-I guess I'm not as ready for this as I thought I would be…" he held his head down in shame figuring he had shown weakness in front of his sensei.

Splinter grabbed Raph's shoulder as he swung him round so they came face to face.
"A child will not ruin your life Raphael, it is a blessing and a gift it, unites us all… making us, a true family" he smiled. Raphael stood up wiped his face and began to kick the loose stones on the ground.
"I-it's not my life I'm worried about sensei… It's the kids… I can't keep…" Raph stopped once more before he could finish his sentence.
"Go on…" Splinter was intrigued to hear his answer.

"I realise now… dat I can't keep doin' stuff like dis…" he said as he began to get frustrated with himself.
"I can't keep runnin' away, I-I ave ta be strong… for C, and stop listenin' …" he sniffed clinching his fists tight.
"Ta dat one voice in my head dat keeps sayin'… you're gonna be a tereble father… you're gonna screw things up… JUST AS YOU ALWAYS DO! GRRRGH!" he roared punching his fist at a wall.
"Oh my son…" Splinter sighed.
"Do not feel you have to be brave in order to face a situation such as this. It is normal what you are feeling…" Splinter reassured him as Raph listened intensely.

"Besides just be lucky that you will only have to raise one child… I had the task of having to raise you and your brothers… and let me tell you it wasn't easy, but I do not regret a single moment of it" this made Raph smile slightly.
He then placed his hand on Raph's shoulder.

"I have no doubt that you will be a great father…" with this support, it made Raph think for a moment as his smile became more noticeable. Taking a step back he bowed before his master.
"Thanks sensei…" Raph pulled himself back up and made his way back inside with Splinter following behind him. As Raph appeared in the doorway everyone's head rose up from the floor, with hope that he would return.

Without warning a babies cry echoed around the room, everyone gasped with anticipation.
"C!" Raph ran and swung the door open.

Stood near the back was the midwife and her assistant with smiles lit up over their faces when they stepped aside, Julie was kneeled over Charlotte, with both hands on either shoulder looking down at what she held in her arms. Charlotte looked drained with her hair slightly frizzled and her skin being moist from her sweat. She raised her head noticing Raph approaching them, a smile beamed across her face.

Julie stood up and took Raph's hand.
"Here Raph… meet your new daughter…" she whispered as she kneeled him down to get a closer look.

Raph's eyes were drawn instantly to the tiny green presence that was wrapped in a warm beige towel, which was being cuddled between Charlotte's arms.
Her eyes were still closed, as she began to roll against the towel, revealing a few strands of red hair that she clearly inherited from her mother.

Her mouth soon opened letting out a soft weep, her fingers coiling when she opened and closed her palms, so carefully. Taking one large yawn her eyes peeked open making it look as if she was squinting up at her parents.
Before long she drifted off back to sleep in the warm bundle with her hands up against her glowing cheeks.

Raph couldn't help but admire every inch of his new daughter in amazement.
"Here…" Charlotte turned to him as she gently placed this tiny creature into his arms. Raph trying carefully not to wake her adjusted his position so it was comfortable for both of them, and yet the child slept peacefully.
He never expected the 9 months, it took to for her to develop, would fly by so quickly. It just showed him how precious every second would be, all his worry and fear drifted away once a smile surfaced over his entire face.

He leaned in close letting their foreheads touch at what time she began to wriggle under him emitting small whimpers, reaching out her hands nuzzling at his snout.
"Hey there kiddo, I may not be much ta look at… but I'm ya papa, and right next ta me is ya mom" Raph whispered hoping that she was listening. Charlotte smiled watching the pair together she was no longer disappointed that he wasn't with her at the birth, but the fact that he was here now.
The tiny turtle shuddered quiet suddenly, as she delivered a miniature sneeze, causing Raph and Charlotte to giggle.

With their new daughter in their lives, Raph and Charlotte were completely content as they shared a tender kiss.

Julie turned and left the room quietly.
Opening the door with a heavy sigh, the others had gathered around, she took a quick intake of each expression.

She smiled and made a peace signal with her hand, indicating everything was okay.

Grins and chuckles of relief, spread across the room, whilst Don walked up and gave Julie a deep hug.
"So how is she?" Mia asked referring to Charlotte's state.
"Very tired… but both mommy and baby are fine" she explained. Don gave her a peck on her cheek, showing how proud he was, giving the fact she had read many books on childbirth, months beforehand.
"I tell you now no books in the world can prepare you for something like this" she yawned thinking it had been a very strenuous day.

Before long Mikey, Robyn and Mia leaned through the door contemplating whether or not they were disturbing them.
"Come on over guys" Raph invited them in; they each stormed in surrounding the new parents hoping to get a glimpse of the new family member.
"Hey there little guy! Awww he's cute" Mikey said waving his finger over her head. Charlotte laughed to herself.
"Man I can't wait to be an Uncle!" Mikey said getting all excited Raph huffed; agitated that he was related to such a dumbass. Master Splinter took a long look at his granddaughter, thinking that he would have passed on before he had any grandchildren.

He was very pleased with his son.

"I'm gonna teach him how to belch and…" Don stopped him in his tracks.
"The baby's a girl" Julie frowned, with her arms folded; the sound of her foot taping could be heard faintly.
"A girl… GIRL!!!" Mikey jumped, Leo and Mia leaned over the back getting a good look at the little turtle in Raph's arms. Mia smiled thinking how adorable she was, Leo noticed and took Mia's hand into his.
"Aww man… a girl… this changes everything…" Mikey reacted with disappointment. Robyn gave him a large WHACK! over his head with her fist.

"OWW!"
